Hof's began with our grandfather, Harold Hofman, and his beach burger stand in the 1940s. This was the "in" spot on the sand at 5th Place in Long Beach. Word of our famous Hofburgers spread, and business boomed. In those days, Hofburgers cost 15 cents and cheese dogs were a dime.
In 1947, Harold married our grandmother, Donna, and with the need to have a year-round business, opened the very first Hof’s Hut in Belmont Shore. After waiting tables on opening day, Donna gave birth to our father, Craig, later that night on September 16, 1951. You could say our family was born to be in the restaurant business.
Looking back over the legacy we have inherited, we attribute Hof’s success to two things: our grandfather’s insistence on using only top-quality ingredients to make the best breakfasts, burgers, chili, onion rings and fresh homemade pies in the area, and an unwavering focus on providing truly great service to our guests. Though we’ve grown a lot in the decades since, Harold’s founding philosophy still guides us today. Thank you to all of our loyal customers and great employees throughout the years.
Welcome to Hof’s Hut.
